REFLECTION: The Basureros

Maelanie Aranguez

The story really made me cried. It gave me hope to the things whenever I have problems and whenever things go wrong. It gave me knowledge that not all basureros are bad that every person has its own story in life and we should not judge them. Yes, we are lucky enough compare to them, we don’t have to fix garbage and waste materials just to have a food to buy or even ask money to the people on the streets. We should love the basureros and not avoid them because we don’t know how difficult their lives compare to us who eat three times a day and having the chance to go to school. We should study hard so that we will not be like them. The boy in the story was a good model to everybody, though he was just a basurero but still he has the courage to do better in school and became an honor student. Always bear in mind that difficulties are not the hindrance to success. I know how difficult to live without a mother or father beside you and I really admired the three children that despite of their situation they never forgot the lesson that their parents taught them and they didn’t lose hope to conquer the problems in their life. They should experience the life like what other children do and should experience the love, guidance and care of a parent. They are just basureros yet I really appreciate their honesty towards others.
