Live and Love to the Fullest

Kikip Lopez

Love one another is one of the themes in Tuesdays with Morrie movie. It features also about life, forgiveness, acceptance, attachment, values and happiness. The type of the piece is more on teaching the viewers positively that there is no other reason aside from love and compassion to become fulfilled. Life is so short thus; it should be enjoyed with great attitudes. Be open to what may happen and be gentle to avoid conflict to one another. In addition, Tuesdays with Morrie is one of the exceptional non-fictional movies. Though there are other films which are seemingly similar to it, yet the thought and connection towards the audience is more obvious hence, the people really discover good things in the movie.

For me, the film Tuesdays with Morrie teaches insights which are essential to man’s existence. Love is said to be the powerful, unifying and transformative thing here on earth therefore, it should be shared and cared. Actually, I really admire some of the best lines in the story. They open up my mind to become more mature and understand some desirable things which I am not being used to. In fact, I like the line, “Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others.” I know it is very hard to offer forgiveness even to ourselves because we do have pride in nature, but I think forgiving ourselves and others make us feel better. Life would be more carefree if there will be no worries in our minds that bother us. I think happiness is one of the purposes why we are here on the world, and I know we could achieve this if we could truly recognize ourselves and ready to accept our own fault. I like also the line, “Accept the past as past, without denying it or discarding it.” I know most of the people could hardly accept their past experiences; even myself couldn’t escape this fact. But after watching the movie, I have truly comprehend that the most important about the past is that it sets as our warning to do better in the next. Past should not be the reason for us to stay down and bitter person instead it should be a caution to become a better one. I am really amazed also with Morries’ dialogue, “The most important in life is to learn how to give out, and let it come in.” This is absolutely true. Learn to give and take is truly necessary in life. We should not resist if there is an opportunity that would come to us because we did not know, that would be the last. Accepting something from others doesn’t mean you are begging for it instead it is just showing you that there are people who are willing to act what God wants to instill to us. “Love is the only rational act” and “love each other or perish”, are also good lessons to learn in the movie. It is true that love is the supreme of all here on earth for without it; life would be useless and full of chaos. I know there is nothing wrong if we share love to one and another. There is no reason for us to hide it because God designs love for He knows it is beneficial to us.

In addition, what touches me most about the story is when Morrie said, “Death ends a life, not a relationship.” I truly believe this especially I don’t have a dad anymore. But, I know my relationship to him is just the same on what we have before. I always think about my dad and I know he feels the same way too even he is now gone. I know life is limited but what makes it infinite is the attachment you made to the others. Even you are gone; for sure they would still remember you as a great person. However, if you are fun ruining your life, that would be a big mistake of yours.

Indeed, life is so wonderful. It is full of turmoil but, it is a superb gift from God. It is nice to know in the story that even the disease is decaying to the body of Morrie but he don’t allow his spirit to live life to the fullest be perished. In fact, the story shares a lot of wisdom about our existence which are necessary for us to realize once in a while. The story also gives emphasis about giving importance to those who made us better individuals. It teaches us to give importance to our family, relatives and friends who are said to be our life molders. Moreover, it educates us also that life is impermanent thing hence, we should not be afraid to depart from this world. Death is inevitable therefore; learn to be good most of the time to avoid regrets at last.

Life is such a wonderful thing here on earth. It is full of lessons to learn and love is just one of them.

Learn to live and love to the fullest and you would definitely know the essence of your existence.
