"The Basureros" By Al Benedict Simene

What a very inspiring experience/story indeed , it only shows that even without money, one can still continue to live on and strive harder in life. Our life doesn't end upon loosing our love ones, in fact, it's a test from god, his giving such test to the three children to see if they still want to continue in life. Even without parents, this three children still works hard to buy medicine for their paralyzed father. Plus, I'm the opposite of the three children because I don't get to work hard in school or even help at home. So I ask  myself, Do I deserve to live such fragile life? Those three children deserves the life that I have now. I'm starting to question myself, why am I like this? I can't help myself, I'm only getting worse. And now, after reading the story, I've found out reasons to live on and battle all challenges in life.

Tuesdays With Morrie (Al Benedict Simene)

Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom Tuesdays with Morrie, written by Mitch Albom is a story of the love between a man and his college professor, Morrie Schwartz. This true story captures the compassion and wisdom of a man who only knew good in his heart. A man who lived his life to the fullest up until the very last breath of his happily fulfilled life. It is a short story of a special bond of friendship that was lost for many years, but never forgotten and simply picked up again at a crucial time of both Morrie's and Mitch's lives. When Morrie learned that he had only a few months to live with the deadly disease of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, Morrie began the last class of his life with Mitch - life's greatest lesson. Throughout the last fourteen weeks of Morrie's life, Mitch met with him every Tuesday to learn and understand all of the wisdom and lessons of life that were within Morrie. The weekly routine consisted of lunch and lecture. These meetings included discussions on everything from the world when you enter it to the world when you say goodbye. From the relationship that these men had with each, a love is revealed like no other love resembles. This is a love of friendship and of respect. Such a bond between people is difficult to achieve. Their relationship consists of an "unembarrassed love" that is constantly present. Morrie Schwartz was a man of great wisdom who loved and enjoyed to see and experience a simplicity of life, something beyond life's most challenging and unanswered mysteries. From Morrie, we learn that life is most happily experienced when enjoyed and fulfilled to its highest ability. Morrie shares this with Mitch in the last days of his life and these great lessons will be carried and practiced throughout Mitch's life.

After watching Tuesdays with Morrie I felt a sense of discovery. Morrie Schwartz was a man that touched the lives of many. He will always be remembered for his sincerity and his compassion for life and for love. The lessons that Morrie loved to teach were of his own experience with life. These great lessons were full of wisdom and love and they came deep from within Morrie. I enjoyed watching this video and I am also envious of his experience with this incredible man. I learned many lessons of life while watching this video. There were lessons of love, of family, of relationships, of education and many more topics and issues that are very touching ti the heart. By watching this video I learned that wisdom comes with experience and it only inspired me to anticipate the lessons of life that I know I will come to learn as I live my own life.

Tusdays with Morrie (Angelie M. Pareja)

Tuesdays with Morrie

As i watched the movie at first i really don't understand what exactly the movie is all about but sooner i realized that the story tells about the love between a spiritual mentor and his pupil and also life and death. The life that God gave us is the greatest gift that I ever receive, He gave us life life to live in this world so we should treasure it as ling as we're alive. We should enjoy life, live life to the fullest but expect many circumstances may come, like what other said that "expect the unexpected". Its normal, its part of living but as long as we are alive, enjoy life do whatever you want because we manage our own life. Treasure every single day that we have in this world before its too late because when we are already dead we can't do anything just the way we do before. When we are dying think that every second, minute, hour is very important and it must be memorable and for the people that are close to us, tell them how much they mean to us.

Life is really unpredictable, we should treasure all the things around us especially to those whom we love and give thanks to them. And most of all, God without Him we are nothing, we are all His children, we should have faith in Him and love Jesus with all our heart.

If I had my life to live again

Ian A.Quebada

If I had my life to live again

If I had my life to live all over again, I will surely change the course of my childhood. I will be playing with my friends form morning until afternoon. I will laugh as much as I can stand. I will be carefree .I will sing my favorites songs with my close friends as we walk along the seashore. I will go fishing every weekend with my grandfather. I will sleep at anytime as I wanted without thinking of households’ tasks at home. I do anything that makes my day happier and relaxing.
I had my life to live all over again, I will study hard in high school for me to learn a lot of things and unravel my potentials. I will try new hobbies like sports and become competitive with others in a more constructive way. I will collect toys like cars, motorbikes, trains and airplanes and placed all those inside my bedroom. I will listen to my favorite music with my friends and when I do something to make me feel good. I will be funnier as I am today. I will make sad people like by playing clowns to make them smile and forget their problems.
If I had to live my life all over again, I will be careful in choosing the right course to take in college. I will ask advice from my parents and guidance councilor or from a good friend yet still have to make decision on my own. I will be keener in choosing friends who can support me in whatever endeavor I will undertake. I will be more clam and patience when things are not going right the way I wanted them to be. I will take make decision one at a time and not rush on anything. I will be more responsible in all my actions. I will take a stand if there are difficult decisions to make but listens and balance all issues before choosing one without regretting.
If I had my life to live all over again, I will always think positively and live my life more fully.

The Basureros

by: Julius R. Calapan

As what we know about the story basureros we must not discriminate them or look them to low because they are only basureros. We must respect them for what they are even though their job is to get some garbage in the dump site we must treat them equally like humans. Our life is like a movie sequence we have different situations. Respect is the biggest factor that we can see in this situation even if you are rich or poor we are all going to die in the future so that we must treat each other equally.
I hate a person who tells those young kids in the street to go away with their car for it will scratch their paint. What if the situation is opposite? Is it ok for them? So let’s not make things like that. We must respect them for who they are. For me I treated people equally even in my friends. I don’t want to make any trouble let them do what they want to do in their life as long as you are happy then go.
I feel pity when I saw some kids in the dump site they are not supposed to in that place; they should be in school with some regular kids. That’s the problem to our government they didn’t have plans for that particular sectors in our society. We are all equal in God’s eyes then treat people equally.

Story of Rose

              by: Julius R. Calapan
My reaction to the story of rose, sometimes you don’t just lay on your bed or watch television in your living room. As what the bible says work man and I will help you. If you want to reach your primary goal in life you must work for it because as we grow older and older and our age added every year you just don’t sit down there and don’t do nothing you got to work hard study hard for you to have a good life in your future. Your future tells what you are doing today in present times if you just sit down there and don’t do anything well I definitely say your future will be messed up. And if you are in school don’t just too nerd enough  to focus all your attention on school work you need also to socialize for you to have more friends to guide you and advice you or help you in many ways if you have problems. Balance is what I also point it out because sometimes people don’t manage their time very well. If you can’t manage to balance your time in all your doings then how can you manage a big company perhaps manage your whole life I think it’s time for the youth to think also to their parents or to those people who worked hard for them to go to school so that their sacrifices can be worth it. As what I saw in our society today too many students are taking advantages well it’s because maybe their parents are working abroad they didn’t appreciate the sacrifices of their parents to work abroad just to make their sons and daughter  to have a good life and in return they didn’t return a good results to their in parents. Well some ended in early pregnancy or getting married too early. Some ended in jail it’s because maybe their taking drugs and caught up by the local police and what can possibly affect to their parents? Maybe their parents will be stressed in worrying thinking what happened to their sons and daughter.  We have only one life and one opportunity then maybe we should grab it eventually and not to lose that chance so that in the near future we are remembered in a way even in little things we do or we shared people that surrounds you and loves you will think that you are a good person not a stupid one.

The Basureros: A Reflection

by: Jhunmar L.Avila

This story is so nice, they inspire me and challenge.

I learn a lot of these stories like don’t spend money in not so important, focus your school study and help to your family, sharing your blessing to others.

Even if they are poor and cannot eat in 3 days there life is fair they not snatched and they helping each other.

I realize that it so hard to live without your family supporting to you. So I very thankful to god they give me a strong family.

That is the story of Basureros.

Tuesday with Morries: A Reflection

 by: Jhunmar L. Avila

When I watched this video I touch and I learn why we are living?

I touch because even if he is dying god gives them a chance to say goodbye who people close of him.

Why we are living so we can learn, learn to our mistakes and living with a purpose.

I learn a lot of this story like just enjoy when you are living and don’t forget god.

So when the time has come that you are dying. Then you are not afraid to die because you are ready.

The Story of Rose (Angelie M. Pareja)

 The Story of Rose

"Growing older is Mandatory, Growing up is optional"

This statement inspires me, when I read the Story of rose. I was shocked and amazed by reading it slowly with my eyes, and i smiled. Could you imagine an eighty-seven years old little old lady can study college with her age? Funny isn’t? is this kind of story exist in reality? Some may say yes, some also may say no. We can never tell. Rose is the main character in the story, reading her story makes me think that there’s no impossible, everything is possible. People may think in different ways, but rose continue to achieve what she wants. She always dreamed of having a college education, that dream motivated her to proceed in college. She never get ashamed or hesitate with others because of her age. Because of being so approachable, giving advice and some thoughts to her fellow students whose younger than her. Rose got more friends and not even thinking that she became a campus icon. By reading her speech i realized and learned at the same time. It inspires me a lot that growing older is not a hindrance to make our dreams not come true it depends on us, if we are motivated to reach the success, achieving the goals we can go further and pursue our dreams. As we grow up many experiences, consequences may come, but we still can stand up and achieve out dreams. We must remember tht Growing older is Mandatory, Growing up is optional. God made us, he gave us life so we shouldn't waste it, and we mst treasure it. Because God knew that we have a purpose. It's the best gift we received from GOD. Life is really unpredictable.

Tuesday’s with Morrie

At first, when I have read the title of the movie it sounds unexciting movie but then I was wrong because I felt touched and sad all at the same time. The story is told in the first person, limited point of my maybe something’s are more important in life that work and money. I liked this film for several reasons. One being I had a teacher in my senior year in high school that was my inspiration. She pushed me and motivated me to go over and beyond the call of duty and to that I give her many thanks. Whenever I had a problem I could go and talk to her and she would be there for me. At times she was my mom and other times she was a friend. Just like Mitch, there were times in which Morrie served as Mitch’s teacher and other times when he was just a friend.

About Morrie , he is discipline person, with a gentle attitude about him. He was intent on proving that the word “dying” was not synonymous with usteless. He chose a date for a “living funeral”. On a cold Sunday afternoon, he was joined in his home by a small group of friends and family. Even as he was dying, he showed respect for his children’s worlds. Little wonder that when they sat with him, there was a waterfall of affection, lots of kisses and jokes and crouching by the side of the bed, holding hands.

Morrie shared a lot of wisdom with Mitch regarding a lot of theses subjects. For example he related his suffering to the suffering of people in the world and seems to feel closer to them now then he ever had before now that he was suffering himself. It was important for Morrie to let the world know that it was okay to cry and mourn for one another.

In conclusion Morrie was a very wise and unique person. He viewed death as a chance to teach his students to live life to its fullest. He saw his disease as an opportunity rather that a misfortune. He realized that if you accepted that you could die at any moment that you would do nothing about it and just wait for it to happen. He also realized how focused people were on materialistic items and how much valuable time is wasted with these materialistic items.

My Philosophy in Life
What would be the main purpose why we’re living in this world? Why do we exist? What would be the things that we need to do? Purpose of life is to live purposeful life. But what is purposeful life? For those who are religious, religious life is purposeful life. For those who believe in universal religion and universal God, spiritual life as purposeful life.

Purpose of life may also keep on changing as we move on in life. For some it changes from worldly to out worldly, for others it may remain worldly throughout the life. Those who are neither aware of any out worldly purpose nor have any significant worldly purpose left to be achieved, life becomes purposeless. Some people find it difficult to admit that life could also be purposeless.  According to them, since God has created life, it can’t be purposeless, especially if it is human life.

I suppose my personal philosophy would be, to be happy with what you have and who you are. I spent a lot of my young life trying to be like other people. Following the golden rule and you can’t go wrong, can’t make sense out of nonsense, be good to get good thing in life. There might be something more to life after death but who cares. Enjoy your life without making harm to yourself and people who love you and people who happen to be in your life.

The Basureros

“Circumstances are always there whatever  things you had, we don’t know when we are going to die, but despite of all disease, God has a plan or a task that we need to do or accomplished before he will get you.”

I was so touched when I’m reading the story, not just because it is a very emotional story, it is because the story has sense and upon the story you could learned something. The boy that has a heart problem is so kind, he sacrifice his tournament fee so that the children could buy foods. He learned that life changed even if he experiences some things that never been right. Just like when he is watching TV then the “Basureros” stole his Antenna.

I was so lucky because I ate 3 times a day unlike “basureros” they budget their foods, money so that their older brother finish his school.

There are a lot of things that I’ve learned from this story. I’ve learned that even the darkest side of life, cannot change the beauty of one’s heart. A sacrifice is always there, because when you sacrifice many good things will come up into your life.

What is your philosophy in life?

“What goes around, comes around”

For sure, bad things happen to all of us, but that’s life. Treat people

you will do will eventually catch up with you.

EDMARIE'S The Story of Rose

The Story of the Rose

Rose’s life is exceptionally ordinary. Dreaming to finish a degree at the age of 87 is kind of funny but inspiring in the other way. For me, she makes me realize that in dreaming it would be wonderful when you set a goal. I remember a verse in the bible that “ a person who hits at nothing will surely hit it”. Rose’s line that when we lose our dream we are dead, means living at all. Her dream of having a degree was realized like the book I read last year ago, it thought of pursuing my passion and be the best of which I can be, just like Rose, peaceful people are those who live their lives without regrets. Those people who fear death are those people who regrets of not doing things they wished they did.
Rationally speaking, “Life is what we make it”. We have to live life the way we want it to be. We must not stop producing fruitful deeds for it will reap good results. Growing up is far different from growing older. For growing older doesn’t require any ability because we can’t stop time to run and hinder our age. On the other hand, growing up seeks improvement and enhancement and enhance abilities we have inside.
One thing nice about Rose, she died peacefully. Being alive means making choices of how to live a meaningful life. An imperfect person just as I am can no longer go back in the past but I can start from now to make a brand new end. Life is a hope, don’t waste it. God is a fair God. He is done working in our lives, that’s why we’re still alive. Allow him to be part of your life because he truly cares.

EDMARIE'S If I Had my Life to Live All Over Again

If I Had my Life to Live All Over Again

I f I had my life to live all over again I would correct all the mistakes that I’ve made. Especially, to my parents who taught me the true meaning of life and give the things that I’ve wanted. I wish that I was born earlier so by this time I already have the job and support the needs of my younger brother and sisters, and so I am capable of being the eldest.
I f I am given a chance to turn back time I would not waste my time, money and effort to those people who doesn’t care about me. Though there were those people, I don’t have any regrets knowing them because they taught me things and lessons like “we should not trust people that we don’t know, instead know them first before trusting them”.
For life experience is important. Even good or bad experiences, it teaches us how to be a strong person. So if I will be given the chance to live life I would grab all the opportunities, all opportunities that I didn’t grab or I refused on it. Another thing is if I would live life again I would e learning and studying those instruments, especially, musical instrument because living life with music is wonderful. It gives color and life to me as a human and creation of God.

REACTION PAPER(STORY OF THE ROSE)

We know that education is the way to success. In this story rose showed about the importance of education in every human being. We know that Rose really wanted to go to school in such old age, so we must be proud now that were in school because education is the only step for us to be successful someday.
Rose is one of the example who taught us not to stop dreaming and always find opportunity so that we will not be regret someday. So we must to be thankful because every seconds of our life is important. We grow up and its advisable for us to always look for the bright side of our life and now in such younger age we are on a wider future someday so don’t stop dreaming for us to reach our goal in life and never surrender instead fight and we need hard work and perseverance. All of that will be granted with the help of our almighty God we are here because of him so as give back to him, live and always find opportunity.

TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE(REACTION PAPER)

A film tuesdays with Morrie is all about the story of a old man, young man and a life greatest lesson.
It’s been ten years since Mitch shared the wisdom of Morrie with the world. Mitch reflects the meaning of Morrie’s life lessons and the gentle, irrevocable impact of their Tuesdays sessions all those years ago.
He treats like was a grandparent , or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago.
As a student Mitch was especially drawn to his sociology professor, Morris Schwartz. On graduation he vowed to keep in touch with him, which he failed to do until 1994, when he saw a segment about Schwartz on the TV program Nightline, and learned that he had just been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. By then a sports columnist for the Detroit Free Press and author of six books, including Fab Five, Mitch was idled by the newspaper strike in the Motor City and so had the opportunity to visit Schwartz in Boston every week until the older man died. Their dialogue is the subject of this moving book in which Schwartz discourses on life,self-pity,regrets,aging,love and death, offering aphorisms.Mitch Albom introduced the wisdom of a man named Morrie with the moving account of the time he spent with him before his death, Tuesdays with Morrie also penned sports-oriented nonfiction, and his popular newspaper columns have been collected into anthologies.

A garbage man, also called a garbage collector or sanitation worker, is a maintenance professional. He collects waste along designated routes within a municipality, emptying refuse receptacles into the truck he is driving. A garbage man (or woman) drives a garbage truck. She removes refuse materials from commercial, industrial and residential areas, transporting it to a designated deposit site such as a recycling plant or incineration depository. The garbage that is collected is first thrown into a garbage truck (driven by the garbage man). It is then compacted. Once taken to the designated deposit site, the garbage man sorts refuse that is recyclable and incinerates the rest. After incineration, she deposits the waste into specified areas known as landfills. The waste is then covered in dirt. A successful garbage man must be comfortable working non-traditional hours such as early mornings. He must also be able to life heavy objects. In fact it is a super important responsibility to protect our civilization from disease and build of filth, which can cause all sorts of horrific issues for society. And to this point one of the most important jobs and careers in this case is that of being a Garbage Man or Woman because you can help keep our civilization clean and safe.

My Philosophy in Life

I always ask to myself, why were here in this world? What is the purpose of life? Why do certain things happen? I had always kept this question to my mind.
Life’s purpose is where we get the “drive” to pursue what we want to be, the “strength” that will keep us focused in the midst of life “storms”. It is also the “force” that will keep us motivated even though there is apparent failure.
Life’s purpose is also called calling or destiny. An element of “Spiritual Intelligence” is needed to understand a person’s purpose. An individual can determine his purpose in life thru: his/her relationship with the divine. Jer. 29:11 said “for I know the plans I have for you, plan to prosper you and not harm you, pain to give you hope and a bright future. Deep in us, we know whether we are in our place, office, position, service, stature. Where we are supposed to be, doing what we are supposed to do, and becoming a person that we should be.
A purpose in life is not necessarily a job, and job change is not a changed of purpose.  Everyone has a life purpose, and it is possible for a person not to be in sync with his calling. If fullness is defined on material and economic gain, yes it is possible to be full even a person is out of his destiny. If fullness includes peace, satisfaction and joy that emanates from within “if the shoe does not fit, it hurts”.

The Story of Rose

Based on the story of Rose, it is about a story of not giving up, a story of courage and a positive woman. It tells us something that we always remember and that is the reality of life. We live because we breathe, we eat because we feel hungry, we drink water because we feel the thirst, and that is mandatory, like growing old is also mandatory. But in the other hand like in the story of the eighty-eight years old woman named Rose, she said that growing up is different from growing old. For me growing up is a choice, a choice in which a person could come old, to realize things or not. Simply, I can say that growing up is the result of everything that a person what he/she wants to be, a person who socialize with other people, “those who do not stop playing, and achieving success” according to Rose.

In my opinion, Rose is a woman who struggles and accepts the wrong things that she had done in her young life, after many years had come then she finally realize that she was wrong. Then she became old, but she did not choose to turn her way back of facing the truth in life, she go to school with her dreams. She is an example of many young people, she shared her life, and thoughts of what she experience in her long life.

Of all the thoughts we’ve learn of the eighty-eight  years old woman is a word of wisdom she let us know, and that is facing the reality we have and we should not waste our time in bad things, and we should always play us we are, because growing up is better than growing old.

Reflection: “Tuesdays with Morrie”

Tuesdays with Morrie is a story of the love between a man and his college professor which captures the compassion and wisdom of a man, a story in which a friendship that was lost for many years but never forgotten. Morrie the old man teaches his student every Tuesdays lessons about the good in life, the real meaning of happiness and success. Morrie teaches lessons how to live, he talks about love, joy, compassion, warmth, family, relationship, culture, society in such a disarmingly simple manner that you feel as a part of the conversation wondering about Morrie’s depth of understanding of life. In his words, he is fortunate enough to know he is dying, to take stock of his life as it comes to an end. I remember the line when he said “When we learn how to die, we learn how to live”, which means it tells us acceptance, that if we accept the inevitability of our death, then we can live our life free of trivial worldly concerns. It is very inspiring to know that an old man who suffer from a deadly disease is the one who taught great lessons of life, even though he has a short time to live, he continue to live as a coach and a teacher, he don’t care about the short time he will spending out, he live his life freely and love the people around him. Another lesson from Morrie when he says that “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and how to let it come in. ”, Which means that being able to give out love and receive love, when one imagines a peaceful world without war, you generally are thinking about people loving and respecting one another. I learn that even small things we should treasure it, life is not about pain and sadness, it is about how we nurture our life to live better and free. And in life we should be positive, treasure every single moment and the people around you. Also we have to accept what is lacking of ourselves, because we are here to live and accept the fact that not everyone is so lucky.

THE BASUREROS(Janine Eireen Gabrinez)

I was touched by this story. And I could have bunch of learnings.
For me, I understand his situation; because even me I hate those people especially " BAJAO".
I had an experience from them that, if you'll not give any goods or money or whatsoever, they'll get mad really at us. They'll give you or trying to pissed you off in some and different ways. I will admit still that not all of them are bad, really bad. Maybe there are few or some of them only. Some "BAJAO" are nice too. I had learn still here that were all different in terms of living; like me I live in our grandparents place and their living in nowhere which is they don't have what we called "HOME" their are so positive thinker though they have no such wealth not like other do.

TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE (Janine Eireen Gabrinez)

I found the movie quite uninteresting for me, because I'm not a fan of watching those kinds of movies.
Perhaps, I've learn something from the movie which we must be humble and never forget where we came from. As this quote said " Never shall I forget the day I spent with you, continue to be my friend as you always find me yours". I learned also that we are obliged to keep our promises or to keep our words to the people we made a promise of.
Time is gold as what they've said; we should live our life to the fullest. Because we need to be ready or face the fact that we will die someday. Though, we don't know them when it's going to be. One thing for sure, we cannot escape "death".
Things may change, whether may change our life-style may change, our attitude may change, but we cannot change the fact that we are all destined to die.

THE BASUREROS (Colyn Unico)

When we say BASUREROS, we think that they are dirty children that no one cares for them. This is a heartwarming story. Because behind their situation, there is hope. We all know, that most of the street kids are undisciplined and also they are broken family.
I really admired these two young basureros. They are trying to find their food to eat. Unlike the other children they're doing nothing and doing bad things. And I thought all of the basureros are just like that but I was wrong.

TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE ( Colyn Unico)

The movie was so boring but you can learn something from it. One of the things that I learned is that if you're battling against growing old, you will never be happy anymore because all of us are going there anyway. Live each day as if it is your last day. You only have 1 year to be 16 or 18 or 40....so make the most out of it.
Give importance to people that matters. I learned also that we should keep the promises or to keep the words that we said. These things might be little for us but for something else, it might mean a lot. Nobody knows when you are going to die but we are aware of the consequences we find in our environment that might be a reason to our death.
We only live our life once, so spend it wisely. Let us live a meaningful life and make sure that you will not regret any decision you've made.

If I Could Only Turn Back Time

If I could only turn back time, I will do better in school and finish what I have started. I will stick to my choice and finish what I really wanted. When I think of it, I had been a Comp Sci student before, but then I hopped from one course to another. Now I'm back to where I had begun. Here I am, a Comp Sci student again.
If I could only turn back time, I will not waste all those years and could have been working by now. But I know that everything that we go through is a learning experience. I am what I am now because of those things. I never had any other regret except for that- not finishing school on time, because I know I could have done better.
But if I could only turn back time, I wouldn't be here by now. I would not have the chance to meet my new friends and I wouldn't be writing this whole thing. Everything has a purpose and a reason. So when I think of it again, I would rather not turn back time.

The Basureros: A Reflection

by: Gina Lynne J. Dipus

The story "The Basureros" has many life lessons in it. As a reader, it made me realize how blessed I am with my present situation and reminds me not to take for granted whatever I have now.
I could somehow relate to the three young basureros. A few years back, I too was in a similar situation, though we did not reach the point of being a basurero. An abrupt change in the family's economic status is hard, and I admire the kids' determination and their fighting spirit. They did not lose hope, though they already lose one parent and another one paralyzed.
The story also taught me to place yourself in another person's shoes before judging them. It is a fact that we sometimes judge other people according to their outward appearance. In one way or another, we have the tendency to discriminate those that we think are "lower" than us.
The story simply tells us to look beyond what we see, because more often than not, there are deeper stories to every picture than they seem to appear...

If I Had My Life to Live all over Again

If I Had My Life to Live all over Again
If I had my life to live all over again, I will not join any cheering competition, because this is the reason why I had an incurable disease today. If I had my life to live all over again, I will grab the opportunity to go abroad in order to support my mother. If I had my life to live all over again, I will not waste the three consecutive years without going to school. If I had my life to live all over again, I will not hurt my mother verbally despite of her being a little bit irresponsible. If I had my life to live all over again, I will not let my girlfriend go to Manila so that I can spend more time with her.

The Basureros

The Basureros
The story tells us, that we cannot judge anyone through their physical appearance and state of their life. Eventhough, there are some people that looks like dirty or untidy, we cannot read what is on their minds and we cannot predict their motives because every individual has a good heart. Another thing that we will learn on this story is, eventhough there are a lot of people who suffered they are still holding their credibility; they will never do bad things just because of their being poor. Instead they will work harder in order to achieve their goal in life.

My Refection in Tuesdays with Morrie by Cyril Abejuela

Death is horrible thing that will that occur in everyone’s life, it is hard to manage the word death in every human being to discuss or to talk about.

The movie “Tuesdays with Morrie” is one of a kind that tackles about Life and Death, and there are lots of moral that we should learn from the movie. First is creating memories with someone whom you trust and love. We should learn to invest time with our family and friends that we cherish for the lifetime to the extent that life is too short to spoil the time worrying something that causes you not to attend reunions or going out with your friends. Next lesson is that we won't be here forever, and if there are things that we want to accomplish during our lifetime, then we have to go out and get them instead of just waiting around for them to come to us. The hardest part of the lesson is that we should learn to die so that we can also learn how to live; we should learn how to live because no one knows how or when we die. At least we embrace life and life also will embrace us back to the least you can imagine.

We should live our life to the fullest and not to jail your life in your work  or to anything we should cherish our family and friends, it is never too late to communicate someone especially for long lost friends. And just learn how to live life and learn to die because everybody in this world is just a borrowed life that God has given to us.

Personal Philosophy in Life

I have no single philosophy for life, but rather three philosophies. Each of which has different meaning. My three philosophies include the following: work hard, take pride in myself and the accomplishments that I make, and also everyone is on this planet for a reason. In the following paragraphs I will explain each of my three philosophies. From this, I hope that others will understand why I look at life the way that I do.

The first of my three philosophies, to work hard, can be very easily explained. I feel that if money or a gift given to me by another person because I earned the reward is much more valued. In other words, knowing that I worked hard, did a good job, and deserve a reward makes me feel good inside. I also feel that all persons should have to work and support themselves. If a person doesn't wish to put forth any effort and work hard to support themselves, then that person deserves nothing.

The next of my three philosophies is to take pride in myself and the accomplishments that I make. I have found that if I don't take pride in myself and what I do than I might as well give up on life. My reason for this being that no one else will think highly of me if I, myself, don't. I always set goals for myself before I begin a project or take part in an activity. My rule is to "Set my goals high, but obtainable," and although I may not always reach all of my goals that I have set, I should always be proud of what I have done.

My final philosophy, everyone is on this planet for a reason, may be looked at from numerous different views. A very small part of the population may be put here for obvious reasons such as curing diseases and saving the environment, and the majority of people think that those persons are the only ones that are here for a reason. However, I feel that all people have a reason for being here whether they cure diseases or do a deed as small as helping disabled people. Numerous people do not realize what they are here for until they are older, and in a few cases a persons reason for being on the earth is not noticed until they have died. For these reasons I feel that all people are equally important and have a mission to complete during their lives.

The above are my three philosophies for life that I live by and believe in. I hope that from what I have written, people will look at life the same way I do. I also want others to understand my interpretation of life. However, I do not intend to change the beliefs of others, but rather to give them more ways to look at life. If everyone would look at each other and realize the importance of our lives there would most likely be fewer wars and less hate in the world.
